Gonzaga Student-Athletes Help Their Teams Make The Grade

            SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University student-athletes completed a very successful fall semester in the classroom with all 14 teams posting a 3.0 or higher GPA.

            In addition, 64 student-athletes made the President's List with a GPA of 3.7-4.0 and 59 made the Dean's list with a GPA of 3.5-3.7.

            Women's tennis had the highest GPA for the recently-completed fall semester with a 3.55, followed closely by men's tennis at 3.5 and women's soccer and women's golf at 3.49. Nine women's soccer players made the Dean's List with women's cross country close behind with eight selections. Women's cross country and women's crew each had 11 student-athletes make the President's List.

            Men's tennis has the highest cumulative GPA at 3.53 while women's cross country has a 3.48 and women's soccer a 3.43.

            As a department, Gonzaga's 14 teams compiled a 3.27 fall semester GPA and have a 3.24 cumulative GPA.

            "To have all of our teams with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester is fantastic," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said. "It exemplifies the effort our student-athletes are putting forth in the classroom and is also a great tribute to the job our coaches, our academic staff and support staff are doing to ensure our student-athletes have the best academic resources possible."
