SPOKANE, Wash. - Two Gonzaga University baseball players - shortstop Mitchell Gunsolus and pitcher Derek Callahan - have been named to the 2012 West Coast League All-Star Team.

The Wenatchee AppleSox duo will play for the Eastern Division in the All-Star game next Tuesday at Borleske Stadium in Walla Walla, Wash.

Gunsolus is hitting .353 in 36 games and leads the WCL in hits (49) and RBI (28). The sophomore-to-be from Kenmore, Wash., also has a .954 fielding percentage.

Callahan, a sophomore-to-be, has compiled a 3-2 record with an ERA of 1.67 in 37.2 innings for the AppleSox. The lefty from Edmonds, Wash., also leads the WCL in strikeouts (43).

Last season for the Bulldogs Gunsolus hit .185 in 15 games with nine runs batted in and Callahan compiled a 3-2 record with an ERA of 6.95 in 22 innings.

AppleSox head coach Ed Knaggs will coach the Eastern Division team. Knaggs, a Gonzaga alum, is also a former Bulldogs assistant baseball coach.

The All-Star game will feature players from all nine teams in the WCL and their selection to the team was based on fan voting, recommendations from Major League scouts and league coaches voting.
