SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's men's soccer team returns to action for the first time since Sept. 2 when the Bulldogs make their first of back-to-back trips to Corvallis, Ore., to face Oregon State University Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Zags will return to Corvallis the following week to participate in the Hensor/Zaher Nike Classic, meeting UC Irvine in the Friday opener and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in a Sunday breakfast on the pitch in a unique 9 a.m. kickoff.
Gonzaga University had a four-match undefeated streak against Oregon State University snapped last season with OSU's 1-0 victory in Spokane. The Bulldogs won the 2010 match-up in Corvallis 3-2. The Bulldogs had dropped four straight matches to the Beavers from 2002-05. The teams played to a 1-1 overtime tie in Spokane in 2009, only one overtime period being played because of darkness. OSU leads the all-time series 18-8-4.
Gonzaga University won't return home until Sept. 30 when the University of San Francisco visits for the West Coast Conference home opener. Following the Hensor/Zaher Nike Classic at Oregon State University next weekend, the Bulldogs will open WCC action Sept. 26 at the University of Portland, ending a stretch of four straight matches away from Gonzaga Soccer Field.
