"Alvaro has nothing to be ashamed of," head coach Peter MacDonald said. "He came here this weekend and played fantastic tennis from start to finish. He is playing very confident and I excited for his future."
McLachlan advanced in the quarterfinals and will play in the semifinals on Monday.
Nazal was the lone Bulldog playing in the open draw; the remaining Zags were playing consolation matches.
Of those consolation matches the Bulldogs won two and lost two.

Jack Schoebel won his third rounder by defeating Alex Wagner from Saint Mary's College 6-1, 6-4.
Pablo Mosquera Pérez fell in the third round to the University of Oregon's Jeff Mullen 6-3, 6-4.
The duo of Smith and Levin Guillermo also played in a consolation doubles match. The tandem would fall to the University of San Francisco's Jonathon Knowlman and Nils Skaa 8-6.
"Everyone got in some good work this weekend," MacDonald said. "I was impressed with how hard the guys played. There was a lot of great talent here this weekend and I think we showed everyone we can compete with the best."
