Second Round of Bill Cullum Invite Suspended Due to Darkness
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Darkness ended the second round of play in the Bill Cullum Invitational Monday as a handful of teams, including the Gonzaga University men's golf team, were not able to complete 36 holes. The Bulldogs concluded the day in 11th place, just one stroke behind Utah State University.
The groups that did not complete the second round will tee it up at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning with the final 18-holes coming immediately after.
Two of the Zags five players completed 36 holes. Freshman Sean Walsh and junior Peter Gullickson were each able to finish the second round before darkness set it.
Walsh shot a 5-over par 77 over the first 18 holes, but exploded for a 3-under par 69 in the second round for a 146. He currently is tied for 19th. Gullickson had a 36-hole total of 155 (81-74).
Sophomore Erik Krzyzanowski put together the best first round for Gonzaga with a four over par 76. He currently is shooting a 1-under par in the second round.
Krzyzanowski, James Fahy and Travis Johnsen will each close out their second rounds Tuesday before the final 18 holes commences.
