SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's soccer team has been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for its success in the classroom earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year. The Bulldogs finished in the top 25 in the country overall and tied for 16th among NCAA Division I institutions.

The NSCAA annually recognizes college soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the pitch. A total of 503 women's team posted a team grade point average of 3.0 and higher.

Gonzaga also was one of 153 schools that had both their men's and women's program recognized.

A total of four West Coast Conference schools were recognized with Gonzaga having the highest GPA.

Earlier this season five Bulldogs were named to the 2012 West Coast Conference Soccer All-Academic team. Senior Emma Dolcetti was named first team, while classmate Morgan Manchester, junior Emily Eckmann, sophomore Tori Lee and Katey Pennington all earned honorable mention accolades.
