Bulldogs Battle Sooners In Old Spice Classic Semifinal
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Gonzaga will face Oklahoma for the first time since 2009 when the teams meet in Friday's 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time semifinal of the Old Spice Classic.
Gonzaga won the last meeting with the Sooners 83-69 in the Spokane Arena on New Year's Eve of 2009. Oklahoma captured the only other meeting in the series 72-68 Dec. 20, 2007 in the All-College Challenge in Oklahoma City.
Gonzaga advanced to Friday with a 57-49 win over Clemson, while the Sooners downed UTEP 68-61 as the Miners closed the gap late.
Gonzaga has yet to lose a game in the Old Spice Classic. The Zags captured the title with a 3-0 mark in their inaugural appearance in the tournament in 2008. Jeremy Pargo, currently with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA, was named the tournament MVP in 2008 and was in attendance at Friday's game as the Cavaliers meet the Orlando Magic Friday night.
