Zags Return Home To Face Lewis-Clark State College Thursday
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's men's basketball team, fresh off its Old Spice Classic championship, hosts Lewis-Clark State College Thursday at 6 p.m. in the McCarthey Athletic Center.
The Warriors are a member of the NAIA Division II ranks and bring a 9-0 record into the fray. The game will be an exhibition contest for the Warriors but will count on Gonzaga's record as the Bulldogs attempt to stay undefeated and go to 7-0.
Gonzaga has never lost to Lewis-Clark State College in nine regular-season meetings. The teams last met Dec. 16, 2010, for the first time in 12 years in the regular season, the Bulldogs taking a 103-61 verdict in the McCarthey Athletic Center. The teams did play an exhibition game in the McCarthey Athletic Center Nov. 14, 2004, the Bulldogs posting an 85-48 victory.
Only two of the nine previous meetings have been relatively close, Gonzaga winning 60-53 Dec. 20, 1985, and 78-67 Dec. 22, 1986. The average margin of victory for the Bulldogs has been 27.6 points, including a 47-point victory (95-48) Jan. 7, 1981; the 42-point victory in 2010; a 36-point victory (101-65) Dec. 23, 1988; a 33-point victory (88-55) Dec. 23, 1974 and a 32-point win (97-65) Dec. 30, 1987. All but one of the contests have been played at Gonzaga, the inaugural meeting Dec. 17, 1973, played in Lewiston, Idaho, where the Bulldogs won 87-65.
