Men's Golf Picked Eighth In WCC Preseason Poll

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The Gonzaga University men's golf team has been picked to finish eighth in the West Coast Conference preseason poll as voted on by the conference head coaches.

The Bulldogs received seven votes to grab their eighth place pick.

Gonzaga is coming off a 2011-2012 campaign that saw it capture fourth place at the 2012 West Coast Conference Championship; its best finish in school history. The Zags, who posted a 3-over par 867; their also lowest WCC Championship score in school history, return all but one golfer from that squad, including junior Peter Gullickson who tied for sixth at last year's championship.

Saint Mary's College and the University of San Francisco were selected to win the 2013 WCC championship. The Gaels received five out of a possible eight first-place votes, while the Dons received the other three first-place votes.

BYU totaled 39 points in the coaches poll and were picked to finish third. The University of San Diego was picked to finish fourth with 34 points, followed by Santa Clara University, Pepperdine University, Loyola Marymount and the Zags.

The 2013 WCC Golf Championships will take place from April 15-17 at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.
