Kliebphipat Eliminated From WAPL In Heartbreaking Loss
NESHANIC STATION, N.J. - Gonzaga University junior-to-be Tai Jade 'TJ' Kliebphipat suffered a heartbreaking 1 up loss to Jennifer Yang Thursday in the second round of match play at the 36th Women's Amateur Public Links at Neshanic Valley Golf Course.
Kliebphipat was in complete control of the match, going 1 up on the first hole and building her lead to as much as 3 up through 14 holes. But Yang, a freshman this past season at the University of Washington, won the last four holes to claim the narrow victory. Kliebphipat, playing in her second WAPL, advanced to match play for the first time this season after failing to advance out of stroke play a year ago.
The native of Panorama City, Calif., bogeyed No. 15 and No. 16, and double-bogeyed No. 17 and No. 18 while Yang went par, birdie, bogey, bogey over the final four holes for the shocking victory.
Kliebphipat was the 43rd seed while Yang was the 55th seed into match play following the 36 holes of stroke play.
