SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University women's volleyball head coach Dave Gantt announced the addition of three players to the 2012 squad Friday. Joining the Zags next year are Lyndsay Palmer a 5-9 setter/outside hitter from Kirkland, Wash., Sarah Bradley, a 6-3 middle blocker from Bellevue, Wash., and Lauren Joseph a 5-9 setter/defensive specialist from Richland, Wash.

Lyndsay Palmer
Setter/Outside Hitter Kirkland, Wash. Cedar Park Christian Washington Volleyball Academy

Lyndsay Palmer is a 5-9 setter/outside hitter from Cedar Park Christian in Bothell, Wash. A four-year varsity member, Palmer was the 2010 and 2011 Emerald City League Most Valuable Player. She earned All-State first team honors and Emerald City All-League first team accolades as a senior. Cedar Park Christian was the Emerald City League Champions in 2008, 2009 and 2011, finished third in state in 2010 and won the Tri-District Championship in 2009. Palmer closed out her career at Cedar Park Christian with 268 kills, 230 service aces, 776 digs, 1,641 assists and 58 digs.

"Lyndsay is a very good person, a very good student, a very good athlete, and is becoming a very good volleyball player," said Gantt. "Her academic preparation at Cedar Park Christian High School, along with her volleyball training at Nevillizms and with the Washington Volleyball Academy has provided a very solid base upon which to continue her development.  We are quite fortunate to have Lyndsay on our roster and anticipate she will be a red-shirt candidate in 2012."

Sarah Bradley
Middle Blocker Bellevue, Wash. Holy Names Academy Washington Volleyball Academy
Sarah Bradley is a 6-3 middle blocker from Holy Names Academy in Seattle, Wash. A 3-year varsity member, Bradley earned All-Metro League first team honors in both 2010 and 2011 and was a second team honoree in 2009. As a senior, Bradley led the team in blocks with 85 and added 161 kills. As a junior, she also led the team in blocks with 90 and had 161 kills.

Her father Scott Bradley played basketball at the University of Utah and Long Beach State University. Her mother Tracy Bradley ran cross country and track and field for Chapman University.

"Sarah's size and knowledge of the game is a very good fit for our program," stated Gantt. "She will add necessary depth in the middle blocker position and possesses the ability and experience to push for playing time immediately. Again, Washington Volleyball Academy has proven to be an integral piece in her volleyball development.

"She has been an excellent student during her high school career at Holy Names Academy, and will complement our 2012 Roster very nicely."

Lauren Joseph
Setter/ Defensive Specialist Richland, Wash. Richland High Columbia Juniors
Lauren Joseph is a 5-9 setter/defensive specialist from Richland high in Richland, Wash. A four-year varsity member, Joseph was named the Big Nine Conference Player of the Year (4A) as a senior and All-Big Nine first-team as both a senior and junior. The Richland Bombers won the league in both 2010 and 2011 and participated in the 4A WIAA State Tournament in 2009 and 2010. Joseph was on the Under Armour Girls' High School Volleyball All-American watch list in 2011 and was the Wendy's High School Heisman School winner for Richland High in 2011.

Joseph is the 2012 Richland high Valedictorian, earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average all four years. She was awarded the WIAA Outstanding Scholastic Award in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and was named an Academic All-American in 2012.

"Very honestly, we are extremely fortunate to have someone with Lauren's credentials join the GU volleyball organization," explained Gantt. "Her commitment to join us is testament to the credibility of the GU Student-Athlete experience. Studying mechanical engineering and Spanish at Gonzaga is enough for most anyone to handle, but additionally she will participate in the Honors Program. Let's not forget, that for her size, Lauren is also one of the best all-around volleyball players in the Northwest Region.

"Lauren has an engaging personality, natural leadership abilities, possesses an excellent technical and conditioning base, is very competitive, and is very excited to be a ZAG!  She has participated all four years on the Richland Varsity team under the direction of Coach Bob Raidl, as well as being a member of the Columbia Juniors Volleyball Program, under the direction of Coach John Lengphounpraseut. We believe that she has positioned herself to challenge for playing time very early in her career. Ella es una buena adición a nuestro programa."
