SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga University women’s players Sunny Greinacher and Haiden Palmer were named to the West Coast Conference Women’s Basketball All-Academic squad while Shelby Cheslek and Lindsay Sherbert were tabbed All-Academic honorable mention.

Greinacher, a junior forward from Essen, Germany, has played in all 29 games for the Zags, getting the starting nod 28 times. She is shooting a team-best 51.4 percent (130-253) from the field, and averaging 10.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game – each second-highest on the squad. Greinacher has also dished out 32 assists, blocked 26 shots and made 25 steals. Greinacher holds a 3.47 GPA in psychology.

This is Greinacher’s second year being named to the All-Academic team, earning the same honor in 2012-13.

Palmer, a senior from Moreno Valley, Calif., has started and played in all 29 games for Gonzaga. She leads the team in points per game (15.5), rebounds per game (5.7) and steals per game (3.1). Her steal average ranks her sixth in the nation and first in the West Coast Conference. She also is now second in the Gonzaga record book for career steals with 272.

Palmer - the 2012 WCC Newcomer of the Year and 2013 WCC Tournament Most Valuable Player - carries a 4.0 GPA as a master’s student in communication and leadership.

Cheslek, a redshirt sophomore from Pullman, Wash., has played in all 29 games for Gonzaga, getting the start 20 times. She is averaging 3.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, while blocking a team-best 1.3 shots a game. Of her 138 total rebounds, she has grabbed a team-high 62 offensive boards.

Cheslek carries a 3.36 GPA in business administration.

In her second year at Gonzaga and first on the court for the Bulldogs, Sherbert has seen action in all 29 games and got the starting nod 10 times. The junior from Temecula, Calif., is one of three Zags to be averaging double-figures at 10.2 a game. She also is averaging 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steal per contest while hitting 43 3-pointers –second-best on the squad.

Sherbert holds a 3.43 GPA in applied communications.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport.  To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
