Reporting A Violation

In accordance with NCAA regulations, all athletic violations of Gonzaga University will be investigated. If the Compliance Officer discovers that a violation has occurred, the involved party(ies), the Athletic Director, and the Faculty Athletic Representative will be notified immediately for reporting to the NCAA Enforcement Division.

A. Who May Report A Violation
1. Any individual (e.g., athletic department staff members, student-athlete, university employee, member of the community) may report an alleged, rumored or suspected violation.
2. The individual may report the alleged, rumored, or suspected violation verbally or in writing. He/she may submit an alleged violation anonymously.

B. To Whom Shall an Alleged Violation be Reported
1. If an alleged or rumored violation is conveyed to any athletic department staff member, the staff member is required by NCAA regulations to immediately notify the Athletic Director or Compliance Officer of the violation.
2. Individuals other than athletic department staff members may report an alleged violation to the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at strahl@athletics.gonzaga.edu or 509-323-4202.

C. Conduct of Investigation of Violation 1. The President is responsible for the conduct of all investigations. The President may assign the faculty athletic representative to conduct or assist in the conduct of an alleged violation following consultation with the Athletic Director and Compliance Officer.
2. The Athletic Director shall present a written record of all alleged violations to the President and Compliance Officer including:
a. Date that the alleged violation was reported to the director and by whom the violation was reported, if not by an anonymous source.
b. Detailed summary of the nature of the alleged violation, including the names of all persons involved in the alleged violation.
c. Chronology of all actions taken in the investigation of the alleged violation.
d. Rationale for concluding whether the allegation was or was not a violation of the NCAA regulations.
e. If a violation has occurred, the Athletic Compliance Officer will keep on file a copy of the report of the violation and subsequent correspondence with the NCAA Office. Copies of the self-report will be sent to the following: President (major violations only); faculty athletics representative; conference commissioner (major violations only); involved staff member; compliance officer.
