The Harry A. Green Rowing Facility housed in the McCarthey Athletic Center was completed in the fall of 2005. It provides the Gonzaga men's and women's rowing programs with their first permanent on-campus, off-water training site. During the past 20 years Gonzaga Rowing has grown from a club sport to a Division I program competing across the United States. This new facility provides the resources to further develop talent and foster success for our programs. It also provides a focal point for recruiting and serves as a symbol of pride for the rowing programs.
The 5,255 square foot rowing venue accommodates 50 plus rowing machines. Forty in the main area integrated with computers can be projected onto screens to allow the rowers to compete with each other or as a team. A multi-purpose area consisting of weight equipment and additional rowing machines allows maximum flexibility for strength conditioning and secondary workouts. This space has been designed with the input of the coaches to emphasize Gonzaga's spirit of teamwork. The operable wall enables the coaches to create two independent workout spaces so that both teams can train simultaneously. This area greatly compliments the main boathouse on the Spokane River and the racing venue at Silver Lake.
