One of the most prolific female athletes ever at Arroyo Grande, the former Heather Norman was a four-year letterwinner in basketball and earned two varsity letters in softball before deciding to concentrate solely on basketball.

She was also named the Northern League Most Valuable Player and the San Luis Obispo County Most Valuable Player. She earned All-Tournament honors two different times (Atascadero and Simi Valley) and was the Telegram Tribune Prep Athlete of the Week twice.

She led Arroyo Grande to a 22-4 record her senior year. They won the Northern League Championship and were a CIF 2A semifinalist.

Following graduation from Arroyo Grande, Gores earned a full basketball scholarship to Washington State University. With the Cougars, Gores set numerous offensive team records and remains in the program’s top 10 in 3-point field goals made (4th; 133), 3-point field goal percentage (8th; .353) and games played (9th; 112).

Gores served as an assistant women’s basketball coach with Washington State and Gonzaga before moving into her current athletic administrator roll with the Bulldogs. Her time at Gonzaga includes a five-year stint on the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee.
