Devon Thomas Named Director of Annual Giving

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University associate athletic director of development Dennis Kalina has announced the hiring of Devon Thomas to be the Director of Annual Giving.
Thomas served as the assistant athletic director for sports marketing at the University of Central Florida prior to being hired by the Zags. As the head of athletic marketing at UCF, Thomas worked with the branding, promotion and general direction of initiatives in support of ticket sales and overall revenue goals of UCF athletics.
"We are extremely excited about having Devon join the Gonzaga family. His wealth of experience in marketing and development will allow GU athletics to continue to make significant strides in annual giving and the engagement of our athletic alumni."
Prior to his time at UCF, Thomas worked at the University of Idaho for four years. Thomas began his time with the Vandals as the assistant marketing director and community outreach and was then promoted to the director of marketing and licensing in 2006.
While at Idaho, Thomas developed and executed strategic marketing plans for the Vandals' 16 Division I sports and also served as the athletic department's liaison with multimedia rightsholder Learfield Sports and website host JumpTV. His responsibilities also included oversight of collegiate licensing.
A 4-year football letterwinner, Thomas began his administrative career at his alma mater, spending time in both development and marketing after graduating from the University of Louisville with a bachelor's of arts degree in communications.
