Student Athletic Advisory Committee Book Drive This Saturday

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University Student Athletic Advisory Committee is teaming up with Page Ahead to help promote child literacy in the Spokane area. This weekend the GU SAAC will be collecting new and like-new books prior to the Gonzaga women's basketball game against Loyola Marymount University. Fans can bring a book to the event and receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win either tickets to an upcoming men's basketball game or use of a luxury suite for the final women's game against the University of Portland on Feb. 26. Doors for this Saturday's game open at 12:30 p.m. with tip-off set for 2 p.m. Tickets are $7 for reserved seats, $5 for general admission and $3 for seniors over 65 and children under 12.
The Bulldogs are currently 20-2 on the season with a 9-0 record in West Coast Conference play. The team is on a 16-game win streak which ranks as the longest active winning streak in the nation entering this weekend. Gonzaga has also won 10 straight at the new McCarthey Athletic Center which is the 20th longest home winning streak in the country.
Founded in 1990, Page Ahead focuses on improving the reading and language skills of at-risk children thereby increasing their overall literacy levels. To date Page Ahead has distributed more than a million books to more than 360,000 children in need.
