Gonzaga Student-Athletes Make The Grade
Feb. 11, 2004
SPOKANE, Wash. - Fifteen of Gonzaga University's intercollegiate athletic teams posted a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the 2003 fall semester, and 89 student-athletes made either the President's List (3.7-4.0 GPA) or Dean's List (3.5-3.7 GPA).
Women's tennis took team honors for the fall semester with a 3.51 GPA. Women's cross country has the best cumulative GPA of 3.48. Women's crew led the way with eight student-athletes named to the Dean's List, while women's reserve soccer and women's crew each had seven student-athletes named to the President's List. In all there were 52 student-athletes on the President's List and 37 on the Dean's List.
"I think this reflects the emphasis our staff and coaches put on academics. We have increased our academic support services and I think we've seen the return on that investment by the effort our student-athletes put forth last semester," athletic director Mike Roth said. "Academic coordinator Mike Miller and his staff have been a great addition to our department."
