April 24, 2008

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University Associate Director of the Rudolf Fitness Center/Intramural Director Shelly Radtke was inducted into Marion Harding High School's Athletic Hall of Fame April 11. Radtke, in her fourth year at Gonzaga, was one of five former Marion Harding athletes to be inducted at the 24th annual enshrinement banquet.

One of the most outstanding female athletes ever at Marion Harding, the former Shelly Aldrich was the only athlete in school history to earn varsity letters in four different sports. She also earned some sort of all-conference recognition in all four. During her senior season alone, she made the Ohio Heartland Conference first team in three different sports - soccer, basketball and softball.

Radtke earned eight varsity letters in all, three each in basketball and softball, and one apiece for volleyball and soccer, during her high school career.

Her senior basketball season at Marion Harding, Radtke averaged 16.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 4.7 steals per game, while shooting an impressive 42.0% from the field. For her efforts that season, Radtke was named OHC's Player of the Year for 1996. She also earned all-district and all-county honors.

Radtke, who was the starting shortstop for Marion Harding, also started as a back-row player on the volleyball team and played forward on the girls soccer inaugural season her senior year.

Following her high school career, Radtke went on to an outstanding three-sport collegiate career at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
