Gonzaga Recognizes Senior Scholar-Athletes Of The Year

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University athletics recently recognized two senior athletes as the Bulldog Scholar-Athletes of the Year for 2006. This year's winners of the award were Rob Anderson, a senior on the men's soccer team, and Kari Durgan, a senior with women's crew.
Anderson was a four-year letter winner where me maintained a 3.76 cumulative GPA as a History major. He was named to the Dean's List twice and the President's List five times. His academic performance allowed him to graduate a semester early, and also earned him a spot on the All-West Coast Conference Academic Team after his junior season. On the field Anderson was a major part of the Bulldogs defensive backfield for four seaosns earning honorable mention All-WCC honors as a freshman and again as a junior.
Durgan is a four-year letter winner for the women's rowing team. An English major, she has maintained a 3.82 cumulative GPA, earning President's List honors allby one semester at Gonzaga. She has also been a two-time member of the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team and College Rowing Coaches Association All-Academic Team. On the water Durgan was a vital member of the Bulldogs Varsity 8+, helping the Bulldogs capture three straight WCC titles and one WIRA championships. Shw was twice named to the All-WCC rowing team and was a two-time first-team All-WIRA selection. Anderson and Durgan were recognized for their academic and athletic honors at Gonzaga University's Academic Convocation. |
