Bulldogs Named To WCC All-Academic Teams

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Ten Gonzaga University student-athletes have been named to the West Coast Conference Spring All-Academic teams announced by Commissioner Michael Gilleran. To be considered, a student-athlete must earn at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to his or her team. Women's rowing and women's golf led the way with three selections each. Seniors Kari Durgan (3.82 GPA in English) and Erin Palmiter (3.43, English), and sophomore Cory Nelson (3.46, business administration) were the women's rowers named, while junior Jennifer Swanson (3.47, psychology) and sophomores Sarah Sheffield (3.74, English) and Lacey Jo Manwaring (3.31, business administration) were the women's golfers honored. Baseball and men's golf each had two student-athletes represented. Seniors Jackson Brennan (4.00, MBA) and Patrick Donovan (3.63, sport management) were the baseball players selected. Sophomores Trevor Loe (3.74, accounting) and Reyn Tanaka (3.35, business administration) were the men's golfers named. while junior Jennifer Swanson (3.47, psychology) and sophomore Sarah Sheffield (3.74, English) were the women's golfers honored. "I think this shows the commitment we make to academics as well as athletics," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said. "Our coaches are to be commended for the job they do in leading our student-athletes on the field of competition and in the classroom.
