SPOKANE, Wash. - For the second straight semester Gonzaga University had more than 100 student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.5 or better.

Women's soccer led the way with 10 student-athletes on the President's List, while women's rowing had eight student-athletes on the Dean's List to lead the way. Women's soccer also posted the best GPA for the semester at 3.66, and their overall GPA of 3.53 also topped the list. In all, 12 teams posted cumulative and spring semester GPA's of 3.0 or better.
Overall Gonzaga's 300-plus student-athletes combined for a 3.30 GPA for the semester, raising the cumulative GPA to 3.25.
"This has been one of our best years both in the classroom and in the field of competition," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said. "To put back-to-back semesters together academically like we have done this year speaks highly of our student-athletes, coaches and support staff. It reinforces the two main reasons we are here - to graduate student-athletes and to win games. We continue to show great balance in both areas. My hat is off to everyone in the department and around campus who helps nurture the well-rounded student-athlete we continue to see at Gonzaga."
