Gonzaga Student-Athletes Continue To Shine In Classroom
June 3, 2011
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's athletic teams turned in another strong performance in the classroom as reflected by the year-end grades.
A total of 109 student-athletes made either the President's List (3.7-4.0 grade point average) or Dean's List (3.5-3.69 GPA) this past semester. The Bulldogs had 13 teams receive 3.0 or higher GPAs for the spring semester, led by the 3.50 of both women's track and field and women's soccer. Women's track and field, women's soccer and men's tennis were closely bunched for the best cumulative GPA, women's track and field getting the nod with a 3.46 GPA over the 3.44 by both women's soccer and men's tennis.
In all, 61 student-athletes made the President's List with 48 represented on the Dean's List. Gonzaga's teams combined for a 3.26 spring GPA and have a 3.23 cumulative GPA.
"This represents another great year of work by our student-athletes in the classroom. I can't thank them enough for the effort they put forth every day not only on the field of competition but in the classroom as well," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said. "Every one of our coaches and support staff should also be commended because they all, in some way, help shape the high academic accomplishment our student-athletes constantly generate."
