Beckman Earns National Recognition From NACMA
Matt Beckman was honored at the NACMA Convention and named to the Board.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Matt Beckman, director of marketing for Gonzaga University's department of intercollegiate athletics, was honored by the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators at the organization's national convention Friday.

Beckman received a 2010-11 Bronze Award for his electronic promotion of Zagslocker.com. The website involved a mixture of engaging interactive social media contests, a behind-the-scenes look at Gonzaga women's basketball via "Zags TV" and opportunities to be a part of the game-day experience. It was Beckman's 10th national honor in the past seven years.

The NACMA Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 16 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness. More than 750 entries were received for the 2010-11 year.

Beckman was also elected to the NACMA Board of Directors, one of four new board members who will serve a 4-year term through June, 2015. The board has the task of preparation, planning and implementation of the annual convention each June, and each board member is also responsible for either chairing or co-chairing a developmental sub-committee.

Dennis Kalina, Gonzaga associate athletic director/external operations, is a past president of NACMA.
