WCC Honors 21 Bulldogs On Spring All-Academic Squads

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University had 21 student-athletes named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic teams for the recently-completed spring season, WCC Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich announced Wednesday.
"The West Coast Conference is very proud to honor and recognize these exceptional student-athletes for their exemplary efforts in the classroom and on the fields of play," said Zaninovich. "Our institutions strive to balance academic achievement in the classroom with success on the field, and this list is evident of that effort."
The Bulldog baseball team led the way with five selections, including redshirt junior Cameron Edman who has a 3.92 GPA in organizational leadership. Other baseball members honored were sophomore Steven Halcomb (3.51 GPA; civil engineering), junior Andy Hunter (3.42 GPA; mechanical engineering), junior Eric Lane (3.39 GPA; physical education) and sophomore Billy Moon (3.34 GPA; accounting).
Four of the 10 members of the women's golf All-Academic team were Bulldogs. Junior Stephanie Corey (3.23 GPA; broadcasting), sophomore Victoria Fallgren (3.44 GPA; English), junior Jessica Howe (3.73 GPA; business) and senior Sage Suffecool (3.25 GPA; sport management) each were named to the team.
The women's tennis team and the women's rowing squad each had two members make their respective All-Academic teams and two earn honorable mention accolades. Senior Danielle Farmer (3.49 GPA; accounting) and senior Jackie Tabb (3.63 GPA; public relations) made the women's tennis list with Clare Dodge and Sophie Lantta claiming honorable mention.
The women's rowing players honored were senior Hannah Winters (3.62 GPA; biology) and senior Theresa Yrani (3.67 GPA; psychology). Sami Koppinger and Rachel Schlosser earned honorable mention accolades.
The men's tennis squad and the men's golf team each had a pair of honorees. Sophomore Levin Guillermo boasted the highest GPA of the 21 student-athletes honored with a 3.94 in civil engineering. Teammate Zhia Hwa Chong, a junior, (3.77 GPA; computer science) was the other men's tennis player to make the team.
The two men's golfers honored were senior Kyle Huus (3.71 GPA; accounting) and senior Francis Santiago (3.73 GPA; business).
