Rian Oliver Promoted To Assistant AD For Compliance

SPOKANE, Wash. - Rian Oliver has been promoted to assistant athletic director for compliance, Gonzaga University athletic director Mike Roth announced Thursday.

Oliver served the past seven years as the Bulldogs’ basketball academic coordinator for both the men’s and women’s programs.

“Rian has demonstrated she is ready for her new responsibilities. She gained a solid compliance background in her position as basketball academic coordinator and she will expand that knowledge to encompass the broader scope of intercollegiate athletics compliance,” Roth said.

As the assistant athletic director for compliance, Oliver will administer NCAA rules education for Gonzaga’s student-athletes, coaches and staff; monitor recruiting and student-athlete eligibility; provide NCAA rules interpretations for Gonzaga coaches and staff; provide mandatory reports for the NCAA and West Coast Conference, and assist with the day-to-day compliance operations within the athletic department.

A former undergraduate work study for the Gonzaga men’s basketball team from 1997-00, Oliver earned both a bachelor of business administration and a bachelor of arts in Spanish in 2000.

After spending three years in the retail industry in San Diego, Calif., Oliver returned to her alma mater in 2003 as the administrative assistant for men’s basketball before being promoted to basketball academic coordinator in the summer of 2006. She earned her master’s degree from Gonzaga in 2006.

A native of Helena, Mont., Oliver and her husband Wes, a Gonzaga alumnus, were married in 2001. The couple welcomed son Griffin in 2008 and daughter Winslow (Winnie) in 2011.
