SAN BRUNO, Cali. - Gonzaga University placed 141 student-athletes on the 2007 West Coast Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll which recognizes achievement of a 3.0 grade-point-average or better in the classroom for the conference's 13 sponsored sports.

The Bulldogs had 27 student-athletes receive Gold Honors for a GPA of 3.75-4.0, 28 receive Silver Honors for a GPA of 3.50-3.74 and 86 student-athletes receive Bronze Honors for a GPA of 3.00-3.49. In addition to the grade point criteria, student-athletes must have earned a varsity letter in their sport and have completed an average of at least 12 graded credit hours per term over the 2006-07 academic year.

"Once again this reflects on the job our student-athletes, coaches and support staff do in making certain we win in the classroom," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said. "We have two goals at Gonzaga - to win games and to win in the classroom - and I think we are more than competitive in both of those arenas."

A total of 849 WCC student-athletes were named to the sixth annual Commissioner's Honor Roll, the most in conference history.
