Bulldogs Announce Four Additions to Staff
Oct. 7, 2008
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University athletic director Mike Roth announced the addition of four staff members to the Bulldog athletic department Friday. Regina Paolucci, Abbie Davis and Gillian Brooksmiller all join the development staff, while Sonja Steele joins the department as the administrative assistant for basketball.
Paolucci, the director of capital support, has worked at Gonzaga since 2003, most recently as a field officer of major gifts for University Relations. Prior to her time in University Relations, Paolucci worked as an admission counselor and as a visit office assistant. She graduated from Gonzaga with a Bachelor of Business Administration, with concentrations in finance and marketing. Paolucci was the Gonzaga Senior Class President in 2002-03 and was the student forum Member of the Year that same year.
"Regina is a great addition to the development team. She already has an understanding of Gonzaga from both a student perspective and from a development perspective and she will primarily interact with alumni to keep them involved with Gonzaga," said Dennis Kalina, associate athletic director for development.
Davis, an administrative assistant for development, previously worked at the Spokane Regional Sports Commission as the event services manager and was a researcher for Auble, Jolicoeur, and Gentry, Real Estate Appraisal. Davis, a native of San Antonio, Texas, graduated with a Bachelors of Science in parks, recreation and tourism management from North Carolina State University in 1999 and earned a Master's of Science in physical education from Eastern Washington University in 2003.
Brooksmiller joins the development staff as the program assistant. She worked as a corporate clerk with Witherspoon, Kelley, Davenport & Toole, P.S. since February, 2005 where she was responsible for logging and tracking corporate renewals and Service and Process, and completing annual renewals.
"Abbie and Gillian will work hand-in-hand on several projects surrounding development," Kalina said. "They will work closely with all of our benefactors, as well as work on special events within development."
Steele, like Paolucci, has worked at Gonzaga since 2002. Prior to moving to the athletic department, Steele was the program coordinator for the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Steele also worked at Sterling Savings Bank and Washington Trust Bank prior to her time at GU. Steele earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in credit and financial management from Spokane Falls Community College in 1995.
"We are excited about Sonja joining our staff," stated Shannon Strahl, associate athletic director for compliance. "She brings to the table significant experience and institutional knowledge, which instantly benefit the basketball programs and the department as a whole."
