LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Gonzaga's Troy Fraley broke his own men's 3,000-meter steeplechase program record at the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival hosted by UCLA Friday.

Fraley finished with a time of 8:45.14, shattering his previous school record of 8:56.23, which was set two years ago at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival. UCLA's All-American Austin O'Neil held off Fraley for first with a time of 8:44.86.

Henry Morris and Sammy Truax ran the seventh and eighth fastest times in program history. Morris had a 23-second personal record of 9:16.89, while Truax crossed the line at 9:19.12, also a 23-second PR.

The Zag men had some breakout performances in the 5,000 meters. Jake Perrin ran the second-fastest time on the GU all-time list. The freshman's time of 14:04.82 was slightly ahead of teammates Scott Kopczynski (14:09.16, 4th in GU history) and Sumner Goodwin (14:12.35, 6th in GU history). Perrin was fourth in the race, Kopczynski was sixth and Goodwin was eighth. Max Kaderabek's time of 14:22.26 ranks ninth in program history.

Jessica Mildes took the women's 5,000-meter title with a time of 16:25.08. Emily Anderson placed first in her section of the women's 800 meters at 2:21.99. Claren Fraher (4:55.00) and Jenny Albrecht (4:57.15) were first and second in their section of the women's 1,500 meters.

"Jessica took over aggressively from the pacesetter and ran alone to a solid finish," Gonzaga women's head coach Patty Ley said. "Her time traditionally has been strong enough to reach NCAA regionals."

Lauren Bourgeois and Olivia Evans were second and fourth in their section of the women's 5,000 meters. Bourgeois' time was 18:11.25, nearly a personal record by 50 seconds, while Evans finished at 18:22.73.

In the men's 800 meters, Kinsly Smith's time of 1:51.76 places him fourth on the GU all-time list.

Phillip Fishburn ran the fastest 10,000-meter time by a freshman in men's program history. He finished the 25-lap race with a time of 30:35.61.

"For the first time in Gonzaga history all men's competitors that ran, ran personal bests," Director of GU Track Pat Tyson said. "They reshaped top 10 lists and even got a school record! So, we go home in a great mood and we are ready for great things ahead!"
