April 2, 2016
SPOKANE, Wash. -- Claren Fraher coasted to the women's 1,500-meter title at the 11th annual Sam Adams Classic hosted by Whitworth University Saturday.
Fraher's winning time of 4:48.16 was nearly three seconds faster than the rest of the field. Her previous personal record was 4:50.83 set at last season's Buc Scoring Invite on the same track. Teammate Corrine Murray placed eighth at 5:01.73.
"We had some pretty solid performances today led by Claren," GU women's Head Coach Patty Ley said. "She just kept building each lap and showed she will be a force for us."
In the men's 1,500 meters, Casey Adams crossed the line in seventh. The senior's time was 4:03.81.
Gonzaga will stay in Spokane next weekend for the Northwest Scoring Clash (WAR IX) at Spokane Falls Community College. The two-day meet begins Friday afternoon.
