Zags Wrap Up Indoor Regular Season in Seattle

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women’s and men’s track and field teams close their indoor regular seasons at the Husky Classic Friday and Saturday.

The Zags will compete alongside Colorado, Oregon, Stanford, Adams State, Boise State, Air Force, UCLA, Oklahoma State, Washington, California, Washington State, Arizona, UCLA, Texas, Penn State, Colorado State, San Francisco, Tennessee, Arkansas, Iona, Southern Utah, Portland, Butler, Penn State, Wyoming, Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara, and professional athletes inside the Dempsey Center.

It will be the final chance for the Bulldogs to run qualifying times for the NCAA Indoor Championships. It will also be the final tune-up for some for the outdoor season, which begins with the Buc Scoring Invite on March 17.

Gonzaga’s Peter Hogan currently ranks 64th in the country in the men’s 5,000 meters. He is entered in the first heat of the 3,000 meters Saturday at 12:40 p.m. Hogan will be joined by teammates Luke Mason, Yacine Guermali and Ben Hogan. Bennett Gagnon is seeded third in the second heat.

Phillip Fishburn opens the meet for GU in the fourth section of the 5,000 meters Friday night at 7:15. Former Zag, Willie Milam runs in the second heat at 6:45 p.m. He recently ran 63:08 at the Houston Half Marathon.

Saturday starts for Gonzaga with Claire Manley in the first heat of the women’s 3,000 meters at 9 a.m. She ran a personal best of 10:09.31 on the same track in the season-opening UW Preview.



Stefan Bradley is entered in the men’s 800 meters. He will be in the first heat at 11:45 a.m. Kinsly Smith runs in the fast heat at 11:58 a.m.

Andrew Clusserath runs in the first heat of the men’s mile at 1:50 p.m., followed by teammates Mason Villarma and Scott Kopczynski in the fourth heat. Villarma is seeded third (4:05.81), while Kopcynzksi is seeded sixth (4:06.56).

Jake Perrin closes the meet for the Zags at 4:44 p.m. He will be in elite fifth heat of the 3,000 meters. He is seeded 18th with a personal best of 8:09.02.

“The field includes runners wearing jerseys from UCLA, Oregon, Colorado, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Iona, Washington, Southern Utah and a couple of professionals,” Director of GU Track and Field Pat Tyson said. “This group is very capable of running sub-8:00. It will be great drama for people at home watching live on FloTrack!”
