Results

SPOKANE, Wash. - Kara Rasmussen won the women's 400 meters and Emily Buck captured the women's 800 meters to highlight Gonzaga University's showing in the Whitworth Open track and field meet on Saturday.

Rasmussen led a one-two finish for the Bulldogs in the 400 meters, taking the event in 1:01.13. Naomi Calkins was second in 1:02.40. It was their first outing of the season at 400 meters as both normally compete at 800 meters.

Buck, meanwhile, won the 800 meters in 2:23.23. a season best in only her second outing at that distance this spring.

The Bulldog women also put together a 4X400 meter relay team of Libby Brands, Buck, Calkins and Rasmussen that finished second in 4:12.84.

On the men's side, Eric Mendoza and Joe Miller finished two-three in the 5000 meters, Mendoza in a season-best 15:53.91 in his second outing at that distance this spring, Miller finishing in 15:54.11.
