EUGENE, Ore. - Gonzaga University's Jill Semenza set a school record of 17:18.87 in winning the women's 5,000 meters at the Oregon Invitational on Saturday.

The junior from Copperopolis, Calif., who earlier this season set the school record in the 10,000 meters, broke the mark of 17:45.1 set by Beth Mulligan in 1998. She edged Ashley Hadway of Montana State University who was second in 17:20.59.

In Friday's men's 10,000 meter run, Gonzaga sophomore Joe Miller of Bremerton, Wash., also added his second school record of the season to his resume by finishing second in 30:45.22. That broke the school mark of 31:22.39 set by Joe Manning last season. Miller set the 5,000 meter record earlier this season. Steve Laurie of Team Eugene won the race in 30:26.89. Miller ran most of the race alone in second place until a late charge by Pat Werhane of the host Ducks, who finished third in 30:49.95.

Molly Follen of the Bulldogs was ninth in the women's 10,000 in 39:29.04 on Friday. Lida Riplinger of Utah State University won the race in 36:03.04.

Also on Saturday, Gonzaga's Emily Buck finished 23rd in the women's 1500 meters in 4:52.68. Jamie Stubbs of Weber State University captured first place in 4:32.70.

The Bulldogs also had a contingent of performers at the Cougar Invitational hosted by Washington State University on Saturday. Kara Rasmussen had the best showing of the day by a Bulldog, finishing fourth in the women's 800 meters in a season-best 2:18.98.
