Miller Wins Whitworth Short Course Meet

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University's Joe Miller and Colby Litzenberger finished 1-2 at the Whitworth Short Course Cross Country Meet on Saturday. Miller covered the 3,200 meter course in 9:45.50 while Litzenberger was second in 9:49.20. Despite the 1-2 punch of the Bulldogs, Community College of Spokane captured the men's race with 34 points. Gonzaga was second with 42 points. Emmylyn Bentley was second and Nellie Ballou fourth to pace the Gonzaga women. Bentley covered the 3,200 meter layout in 12:09.9 while Ballou was timed in 12:21.20. Julie Lauterbach of host Whitworth captured the women's meet in 11:48.3. The Pirates placed six runners among the top 10 to finish with 25 points. Community Colleges of Spokane (52 points) edged Gonzaga (57 points) for second place.
