Litzenberger, Volcheff Pace Bulldog Runners

MISSOULA, Mont. - Colby Litzenberger and Laura Volcheff paced Gonzaga University's men's and women's cross country teams, respectively, at the University of Montana Invitational cross country meet Saturday. The meet was a non-scoring meet that included teams from the host Grizzlies, Montana State University, Carroll College, Montana State Billings, Rocky Mountain College, Washington State University, Eastern Washington University and various club teams in addition to the Bulldogs. Litzenberger was 11th in 26:16 in the men's 8K over the University of Montana Golf Course. Nick Atwood, running unattached, was first in 24:44. Matt Bejar was 16th for the Bulldogs in 26:42 and Brett Withers 23rd in 27:03. Volcheff finished 16th for the Bulldog women in 19:27 over the 5K layout. Elizabeth Slamkowski was 22nd in 19:45 and Molly Funk 26th in 19:59. Sara Trane of WSU won the women's race in 18:10. The Bulldogs will be idle until Oct. 18 when they compete in the Eastern Washington University Invitational in nearby Cheney.
