CHENEY, Wash. - Gonzaga University's men's and women's cross country teams got their final tuneup prior to the West Coast Conference Championsip on Saturday at the Eastern Washington University Invitational.

The Bulldog men had three runners in the top 15, including a runner-up finish from Joe Miller, to finsh third. Gonzaga's women got a 19th-place finish from Nellie Ballou and finished fifth in the team chase.

Miller, who sat out the Bulldogs last race two week's ago, covered the 8K course in 25:42.4 to finish second behind EWU's John Timeus who was timed in 25:30.7. Colby Litzenberger was 11th in 26:54.9 and Gabe Hayden finished 15th in 27:15.5 to lead the Bulldogs.

Gonzaga tallied 77 points for third place behind the University of Montana with 29 and EWU with 36.

On the women's side, Ballou was the top Bulldog in 20:16 over the 5K course. Kara Rasmussen was 27th in 20:52.

For the second straight race the Bulldogs were without Jill Semenza who remains sidelined with an injury.

Gonzaga's women were fifth with 126 points. Montana took the team title with 20 points.

The next action for the Bulldogs will be the WCC Championship on Oct. 29 in Belmont, Calif.
