BELMONT, Calif. - Gonzaga University's men finished second and the Bulldog women were third at the West Coast Conference Cross Country Championships at Crystal Springs Golf Course on Saturday.

The University of Portland won both races, the men taking the title for the 26th straight time. The Pilot men took five of the top seven places for 19 points, followed by Gonzaga with 66. The UP women took five of the top nine places for 28 points followed by the University of San Francisco with 81 points and Gonzaga with 102.

Joe Miller, Ryan Anderson and Joe Manning all had top 10 finishes for the Bulldog men, and head coach Kevin Swaim was named the WCC Coach of the Year.

Miller finished third over the 8K course in 25:33, Anderson was eighth in 26:03 and Manning was ninth in 26:07. Portland's Nick Schuetzke won the individual title in 25:30.

The Bulldog men will now compete as a team at the NCAA Regional in Fresno, Calif., on Nov. 13.

Swain earned his fifth WCC Coach of the Year honor, his third with the men and his second straight.

Jill Semenza was the lone top 10 performer for the Bulldog women, covering the 5K layout in 18:27. Amie Dahnke of Portland captured individual honors in 17:40.
