SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's cross country team will return to action this Saturday as the Bulldogs compete in the NCAA West Regional Championships in Portland, Ore. This will be the first that Gonzaga has advanced a team to the NCAA West Regionals since 1995 although the Bulldogs have sent several individual runners to the event during that 8-year span. Racing will take place at Blue Lake Park in Gresham, Ore., with the men's 10K event starting at 11 a.m. The top two teams from the West Regional advance to the NCAA Championships on Nov. 24 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The West Regional is one of nine NCAA Regionals taking place on Saturday.

Gonzaga is coming off a second-place finish in the West Coast Conference championships finishing behind the University of Portland which has won 26 straight WCC cross country titles. Bulldogs runners finished sixth, seventh and eighth at the WCC Championships with Ryan Anderson, Joe Miller and Joe Manning crossing the finish line in consecutive order, all three runners earning All-WCC honors. Bulldogs head coach Kevin Swaim was named the WCC Coach of the Year as he concludes his 9th year as the Bulldogs head coach.
