HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four varsity letters in baseball at Douglas County High in Castle Rock, Colo., playing for coach Curt Williams...also earned two varsity letters in basketball...hit .452 as a senior leading the state of Colorado with 33 runs scored...set a school record with 19 home runs during junior season after leading team in RBI as a sophomore...honorable mention All-Continental League as a freshman and junior...second team All-League as a sophomore while earning first-team honors as a senior...honorable mention All-State as a senior...team MVP and captain as a senior.
FRESHMAN (2003): Played in eight games as a redshirt freshman...hit .429 on the season with two doubles. SOPHOMORE (2004): Started the seven games to open the season...hit .308 with eight hits on the season...had three multi-hit games on three consecutive days at the Arizona Spring Training Tournament in February...named to the Coca-Cola Surprise Baseball Classic All-Tournament team...missed most of the season with a recurring back injury. JUNIOR (2005): Played in 30 games, staring 27...hit .302 with 32 hits, seven doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI...posted seven multi-hit games including a 6-for-14, two RBI, one double, one home run and two runs scored performance at the Coca-Cola Spring Training Tournament, helping him earn an All-Tournament team selection...missed most of the season with a recurring back injury.
