New season starts Friday at Grand Canyon

2016: Made seven appearances and one start as a junior...went 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA...made Division I debut Feb. 19 in season opener at Grand Canyon...pitched scoreless inning with one strikeout Feb. 20 at Grand Canyon...tossed another scoreless frame March 5 at No. 7 TCU...earned first career start March 9 at Washington, setting career highs with four innings and three strikeouts, allowing just two hits and one run... also pitched an inning in the WCC Championships against Saint Mary's May 27.

Lamar Community College: Pitched for one year at Lamar CC, seeing action in 20 games with seven starts and 54.0 innings pitched…went 7-2 with three saves, striking out 67 and posting a 3.00 ERA.

University of Sioux Falls: Also pitched one year for the Cougars.

Golden High School: Pitched and played in the outfield all four years for the Demons…also played quarterback and defensive end for two years.

Club Experience: Played for Davy Jones Baseball in Denver.

Personal: Full name is Elijah Thornquist, but goes by Eli…son of Susan and David Thornquist…has a sister named Rachael…David ran track and field and played basketball at Dickinson State University and Rachel played Volleyball at Hawaii-Hilo and Seton Hall…majoring in business administration…career goal is to be able to provide for his family…has lived in six different states…chose Gonzaga “to further my education from a great academic university.”
