2017: Saw action as a reserve in five games during sophomore year...had one at-bat and provided one assist...made season debut as pinch-runner March 14 at UC Riverside...got lone at-bat of season March 18 versus Pacific...played third-base twice in series against San Francisco March 25-26...entered April 21 game at Portland as defensive replacement, throwing out one batter.
2016: Played in 11 games as a freshman, tallying one hit -- a double -- and four RBIs...also drew one walk and made four putouts and four assists...made collegiate debut Feb. 26 against Texas Southern, hitting a bases-clearing double for three RBIs...drew an RBI walk March 6 at No. 7 TCU...took over at second base April 3 at Pacific, making an assist and a putout...also saw action April 10 against Portland, throwing two batters out and putting two batters out...also saw playing time April 17 at San Francisco, April 28 at BYU, and May 9 at Oregon.
Central Catholic High School: Played baseball all four years for Central Catholic…starting shortstop on the varsity squad since sophomore year…led team with .350 batting average as senior…also tallied .945 fielding percentage…earned All-Mt. Hood Conference final two years, earning First Team as a junior and Second Team as a senior…also voted Oregon Athlete of the Week for March 23-29, 2015…made Honor Roll seven of eight semesters in high school.
Club Experience: Played club ball for Northwest Futures out of Vancouver, Wash….led team in batting average with .390.
Personal: Full name John Krauel, but goes by Jack…parents are Kelly Fox and Toby Krauel…has two siblings: a sister named Katy and brother named Gus…father and sister each played tennis at the University of Portland and uncle Fred Riler played baseball at Gonzaga…majoring in journalism and wants to be a sports writer after graduation…had a scholarship offer to play tennis at Portland State…chose Gonzaga for the academic and athletic opportunity and because of family ties to the school; he’s the 12th person in his family to attend Gonzaga.
