2017: Started 14 games as a senior…earned WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention accolades…went 7-3 with a 3.11 ERA in 89.2 innings…59/20 strikeout/walk percentage…nine quality starts on the year, four ultra-quality starts…started season opener, going 8.0 innings and allowing one unearned run Feb. 17 versus Duke…six innings of one-run ball at CSU Fullerton March 11…that game started a 23.0-inning scoreless stretch until April 1…eight shutout innings versus Pacific March 18, striking out career-high nine batters and allowing just three hits…first career shutout March 25 versus San Francisco in game two of doubleheader…eight shutout innings April 8 versus San Diego April 8…seven innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts May 13 versus Loyola Marymount…went toe-to-toe with WCC Pitcher of the Week Cory Abbott once again two weeks later, holding the Lions to three hits in 6.2 scoreless innings, fanning five May 26 at WCC Championships.

2016: Made 15 appearances and six starts as a junior in first year at Gonzaga...posted 1-2 record with two saves...pitched 44.2 innings with a 6.45 ERA, striking out 27 batters...quality start in first outing for GU, tossing 7.0 innings of three-run ball Feb. 20 at Grand Canyon...another quality start Feb. 27 against Bradley, striking out five in 6.1` innings while allowing just two runs...pitched 3.0 scoreless innings in relief at Arkansas, striking out three and earning first save...picked up second save of year March 12 at UTSA with 1.2 innings without allowing a hit...struck out three batters in 2.0 innings March 20 versus Pepperdine ...earned first career win April 3 at Pacific after pitching 1.2 innings...started May 17 at Washington State, fanning five to equal season high...saw time May 28 against Saint Mary's in WCC Championships.

Tacoma Community College: Pitched two years for the Titans, going 22-0 over both…Earned NWAC West Division MVP, First Team All-NWAC as a freshman, posting 1.18 ERA with 59 Ks…Also First Team All-NWAC West Division and First Team All-NWAC as a sophomore with 1.7 ERA and 82 strikeouts.

Issaquah High School: Played two years of baseball for Issaquah...pitched and played first base for the Eagles…posted 1.98 ERA with a 6-3 record as a senior, fanning 73 batters…hit .328 as well…earned First Team All-KingCo honors as a senior.

Personal: Parents are Dorene and Michael Vernia…has two siblings named Danielle and Nick…father Michael played baseball at Pratt Community College…majoring in sports management and wants to be general manager of a MLB team…has attended two different elementary schools, two different high schools, and two colleges…chose Gonzaga because “I wanted to attend a school where I would be playing for a team with national title intentions as well as to earn a degree from a prestigious university.”
