Spokane, Wash. - Marcus McKimmy, an outfielder for the Gonzaga University baseball team, has been named the West Coast Conference Co-Player of the Month for the month of March, as announced by the league office Wednesday. McKimmy shares the honor with Eric Thames of Pepperdine University.

McKimmy led Gonzaga (16-11) to a 13-7 record during the month as the senior hit a conference-best .418, going 33-for-79. The native of Yakima, Wash. scored 25 runs to lead the WCC while clubbing six doubles, three home runs en route to collecting 25 runs batted in. The senior notched multiple-hits in nine contests, including seven games with three hits while stringing together an eight-game hit streak to close out the month.

For the season, McKimmy leads the Zags with a .382 average while driving in 32 runs and scoring 31 on 39 hits.

The honor is the first of McKimmy's career, as well as the first time since a Bulldog has been awarded the honor since Jackson Brennan was named the WCC Player of the Month in February of 2006.

Thames led the Waves to a 13-7 mark during March, batting at a .403 clip with six home runs.

Gonzaga continues conference play this weekend as it travels to No. 17 University of San Diego. The rematch of the 2007 West Coast Conference Championship will open Friday at 3 p.m.
