SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University senior outfielder Jeff Culpepper signed a contract with the Chicago Cubs, the team that drafted him in the 2004 MLB draft, and will report to their Mesa, Ariz. training facility on Thursday to begin play with for the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League.

Culpepper ranked second on the Bulldogs team this season with a .317 batting average including 14 doubles, six home runs, two triples and 38 RBI. He led the team with 16 stolen bases in 19 attempts which moved him into eighth at GU in career stolen bases with 41. The senior also moved into second place on the Gonzaga career doubles list with 54 and second place on career hits list with 265. Culpepper posted a .330 career batting average over four seasons. The senior from Woodinville, Wash., played right field and center field for the Bulldogs this season with 54 starts.
