SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga baseball senior first baseman Jake Vieth has been named to the 2018 ABCA/Rawlings Division I Gold Glove Team, the American Baseball Coaches’ Association announced Wednesday. Vieth is the first Bulldog in program history to be awarded the Gold Glove since the award’s inception in 2007.

The Tacoma, Wash. native also claimed the team lead in homeruns this season with 10, including two homers in Gonzaga’s 17-2 rout over top-seeded Pepperdine in the WCC Tournament Championship in May.

Vieth was also the most patient Zag at the plate, finishing the season with 36 walks and a .429 on-base percentage, both team-highs.

Additionally, NLI signee Josh Bristyan of Paradise Valley Community College was also honored as he was named to the 2018 ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA Div. II Gold Glove Team. This marks the second time in as many years that Bristyan has picked up Gold Glove honors; this season, he led the NJCAA with 178 assists and posted 112 putouts on the year.
