REDSHIRT SENIOR (2016-17)

Won the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar  Award, awarded to top center in men’s college basketball … was named All-West Coast Conference First Team and First Team Academic All-Conference … named to the Senior CLASS Award Team … started all 39 games this season … finished top 20 in the WCC in scoring and rebounding average per game and fourth in field-goal percentage … moved into 15th all-time in points scored in school history with 1,495 … second all-time at Gonzaga in blocks with 152 and sixth in field-goal percentage at .596 … is seventh all-time in field goals made (615) and sixth in total re- bounds (819) … scored 20 or more points twice this season … had a double-double in the WCC Tournament Championship Game with 15 and 10 rebounds.

 

SENIOR (2015-16)

Named Preseason All-West Coast Conference … named to Kareem Abdul Jabbar Center of the Year award watch list … appeared and started in first five games of the season … missed the rest of the season with injury … in the five appearances, averaged 8.8 points and 5.4 rebounds … scored a season-high 12 points against Washington … grabbed a season-high seven rebounds versus Northern Arizona in the season-opener… became the 39th player in program history to top 1,000 points for his career … also stands just nine rebounds shy of becoming the 14th player with at least 600 rebounds … the combination of 1,000 points and 600 rebounds is even more elite as only eight players in school history have accomplished that feat.

 

JUNIOR (2014-15)

Played in all 38 games with 37 starts...Earned All-WCC First Team honors and WCC All-Tournament Team honors...Ranked third on the team with 10.9 points, second with 5.8 rebounds and first with 1.03 blocks per game...Scored in double figures 22 times, including two games of 20-plus...Ranked second on the team with a .622 field goal percentage...Had a then-career-high 22 in win over Washington State at Spokane Arena...Set new career high against San Francisco in the opening round of the WCC Tournament with 24 points on 10-for-14 shooting...Notched two double-doubles, tallying 10 points and 11 rebounds both times, versus Arizona and Portland...Made only career three-pointer in win at Portland as part of 21-point effort...Named WCC Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 5 following Portland effort...Had 18 points and nine rebounds in Sweet Sixteen victory over UCLA in Houston...Moved into fifth all-time at Gonzaga in blocks with 112 and into third all-time with .600 career field goal percentage.

 

SOPHOMORE (2013-14)

Started all 36 games during the season...Ranked fourth on the team with 10.4 points per game, second on team with 7.1 rebounds per game and first on team in blocked shots with 1.7 per game...Led team in scoring three times, including a season-high 19 in 80-76 win over West Virginia...Led team in rebounding 19 times, including a career-high 13 against WVU...Shot team-best .593 (143-of-241) from the field...Fourth on team in minutes played with 25.4 per game...Had Had five double-doubles on the season, including both NCAA Tournament games...Notched 15 points and 10 rebounds in Second Round win over Oklahoma State and 14 points and 10 rebounds in Third Round loss to Arizona...Played for Poland Senior National Team in 2013 Eurobasket in Slovenia, a qualifying tournament for 2014 FIBA World Championships...played in four of Poland's five games, averaging 3.3 ppg, 2.5 rpg and 0.3 assists/game...scored nine points against Georgia (formerly the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic) and grabbed 2 rebounds...scored three points against Spain and grabbed a tournament-high 6 rebounds...Poland went 1-4 with its lone win over Slovenia in a game Karnowski only played 2 minutes and had 1 rebound.

 

FRESHMAN (2012-13)

Named to WCC All-Freshman Team...Played in 34 games with lone start coming against Campbell as he scored a game-high 14 points on 6-of-9 night from the field...came off the bench in his collegiate debut to score 22 points against Southern, going 10-for-16 from the field...two games later scored 20 against South Dakota on a 9-for-10 effort from the field...had two other double-digit scoring nights -- 16 points at home against Lewis-Clark State and 10 at home against Pepperdine...season-high 9 rebounds at Pepperdine...shot 56.7 percent from the field (76-for-134) for third highest among the regulars...averaged 2.6 rpg had 11 blocks for the season.

 

HIGH SCHOOL

Basketball not played in the high school system as we know it...in 2011-12 played for Siarka Jezioro Tarnobrzeg team in the PLK, Poland's top league, and averaged 10.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg and shot 54 percent from the floor...played in the 2011 U18 European Championship in Wroclaw, Poland, where he was named to the All-Star Game...scored a game-high 13 points while earning MVP honors and averaged 11.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg and 1.8 blocks/game...scored 21 points in the opening game against Slovakia, one of five double-digits games...had a pair of double-doubles - 17 points and 11 rebounds against Croatia and 14 points and 10 boards against Italy...in 2010 U17 World Championships in Hamburg, Germany...averaged 14.5 ppg, 11.0 rpg, 2.5 assists and 2.0 blocks in that tournament...scored in double-digits in seven of the eight games...foul trouble limited his minutes in the Gold Medal game against USA and finished with three points...had two 20-point games with 24 against Germany and 20 against Spain to go with 12 rebounds for one of his five double-digit outings as Poland finished 7-1 with the title-game loss to USA...went 12-for-16 from the field against Germany and 7-for-8 against Spain...shot 53.1 percent from the field on 43-of-81...had match-up with Canada and Kevin Pangos who was entering his senior year of high school and being recruited by Gonzaga...in the match-up with Pangos and Canada, Poland took a 75-70 victory...scored 14 points and hauled in 10 rebounds while Pangos scored 22 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and had 6 assists...Karnowski and Pangos both named to the All-Tournament Five for the inaugural FIBA U17 World Championship...Karnowski was named the best center in the competition while Pangos was tabbed the top point guard...among other FIBA appearances are the 2008 U16 European Championship, the 2009 U16 European Championship, the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship, the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship and the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship...had an outstanding FIBA U19 World Championship, averaging 13.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg and 1.6 blocks/game...scored 29 points against Croatia on an 11-for-18 night from the field and 23 against Russia while going 9-for-12 from the field...had a tournament-high 9 rebounds against both Argentina and Croatia...Nicknamed Schimmick...was discovered by Gonzaga assistant coach Tommy Lloyd who was in Hamburg, Germany, for U17 World Championships to watch Kevin Pangos, who was entering his senior year of high school.
