Bulldogs Stomp Broncos, 95-53
Jan. 15, 2009 SPOKANE, Wash. (AP)--Austin Daye scored 20 points to lead five players in double figures as Gonzaga routed Santa Clara 95-53 on Thursday night. Matt Bouldin added 16 points, Steven Gray 15, Josh Heytvelt 11 and Jeremy Pargo 11 for Gonzaga (11-4, 2-0 West Coast Conference), which put on a display of dunks and 3-pointers against its overmatched foes. John Bryant scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Santa Clara (7-12, 0-3), which lost its fifth consecutive game. It was his 12th double-double of the season. James Rahon added 14 points for the Broncos. The Broncos, who lost their previous four games by a total of 15 points, suffered easily their worst loss of the season. Gonzaga shot 55 percent in the game, dominated the rebounding 46-29, and forced the Broncos into 36 percent shooting and 17 turnovers. It was the highest scoring total of the season for the Zags.
