SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Derek Raivio scored 21 points as Gonzaga routed Texas-San Antonio 92-48 on Sunday to extend its home winning streak to 42, the longest in the nation.
Gonzaga (4-0) will travel to New York City on Wednesday to play No. 2 North Carolina (3-0) in the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off.
Texas-San Antonio (1-3) was paced by junior college transfer Isaiah Allen, who scored 22.
The game was a blowout early and the Roadrunners never got closer than 17 points in the second half. Gonzaga dominated the rebounding by a 49-26 margin.
The Zags were 26-of-39 free throws, compared to 7-of-14 for the Roadrunners.
Pierre Marie Altidor-Cespedes scored six points as Gonzaga built a 19-6 lead. After a goaltending call gave the Roadrunners a basket, Raivio hit a pair of 3-pointers to ignite a 12-0 Gonzaga run for a 31-8 lead.
Eight points by Allen brought the Roadrunners to within 37-21, but Raivio scored seven points during a 10-0 Gonzaga run for a 47-21 lead.
Gonzaga led 51-29 at halftime, behind 17 points by Raivio.
Allen, who was roundly booed every time he touched the ball after making some celebratory gestures to the vocal Gonzaga crowd, had 15 points in the first half.
Gonzaga officials announced Sunday that highly touted transfer student Micah Downs had a pin inserted in his injured foot and will miss the entire season. Downs transferred from Kansas last season and was not eligible to play until December. He injured his foot during preseason practice. Downs was a McDonald's All-American at Juanita High School in Seattle.
Gonzaga has 42 straight home wins, dating to a loss to Portland on Feb. 19, 2003. Gonzaga has never lost in the 3-year old McCarthey Athletic Center, winning all 30 games there.
