PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Blake Stepp scored 34 points as Gonzaga beat Washington State 110-104 in overtime on Saturday night, sweeping both Pacific 10 schools in the state in overtime in the same week. Marcus Moore scored a career-high 42 points in the loss.
Ronny Turiaf scored eight points in overtime for Gonzaga (5-2), which beat Washington State for the fourth time in a row.
Moore's desperation 3-pointer from near half court tied the game at 93-93 as regulation expired. Moore scored 17 of WSU's final 20 points of regulation, all in the final 3:17.
Moore scored 10 of Washington State's (2-3) 11 points in overtime, including a 3-pointer that closed the gap to 104-101 with 30 seconds left. But the Cougars were forced to foul, and Stepp sank four free throws and Turiaf sank two to keep the Bulldogs ahead.
Gonzaga led most of the game, but Washington State had closed to 76-71 with 5 minutes left.
Four successive 3-pointers by Moore brought Washington State within 89-87 with 37 seconds left. But the Cougars had to foul and Stepp sank two free throws.
Then Thomas Kelati hit a 3-pointer with 3.8 seconds left as Washington State closed to 91-90. A pair of Stepp free throws gave Gonzaga a 93-90 lead before Moore sent the game into overtime.
The win capped a busy week for the Bulldogs, who beat Washington in overtime on Monday and needed a second-half comeback to beat Montana on Thursday.
The teams traded a barrage of baskets the rest of the first half as Gonzaga
took a 49-37 halftime lead.
Richard Fox scored 12 of Gonzaga's first 17 points of the second half, mostly on soft-handed layups, as the Bulldogs built a 64-47 lead with 14 minutes left.
But Washington State replied with a 14-2 run, seven of the points by Thomas Kelati, to close to within 70-64 with 8:30 left.
The crowd of 5,746 was the biggest at WSU since No. 1 Stanford visited in February 2001. Washington State lost for just the second time at Friel Court to a non-conference foe since the 1990-91 season, with 53 wins in that time.
