Marc Axton led Eastern Washington (2-8) with 33 points, including a school record-tying seven 3-pointers. The Eagles, located in suburban Cheney, have lost six straight games and have also dropped 19 in a row to Gonzaga dating to 1990.

After leading by 10 points at halftime, Gonzaga went on an 8-0 run early in the second half, punctuated by a slam by Turiaf, to build a 47-31 lead with 16:28 left.

But Eastern did not make a field goal for more than 6 minutes as Gonzaga built a 66-51 lead and then made free throws to fend off the Eagles.
Axton scored eight quick points as Eastern Washington jumped to a 14-7 lead in the first 5 minutes. Consecutive 3-pointers by Morrison and Erroll Knight lifted Gonzaga to its first lead, 23-21, with 8:01 left in the first half.
